Go to the skirmish configuration screen first
Launch your TA and go to the skirmish configuration screen shown below:
Activate the additional six AI slots
Once you are at the skirmish configuration screen hit the asterix key (*) and then the x key. If you are using a non english keyboard use the asterix key on the number pad (the multiply key) rather then the asterix key on the main keyboard since TA seems to check keys directly by their hardware key code so language dependent mapping done by the operating system is bypassed completely. If you did everything right the skirmish screen should look like this::
Why the change is permantent
The number of configured skirmish AIs is stored in the registry under the registry entry HKEY_USERS\<insert cryptic name here>\Software\Cavedog Entertainment\Total Annihilation\NumSkirmishPlayers so you don't have to do this again the next time you start TA. <insert cryptic name here> is a placeholder for a string that may differ from computer to computer so you have to figure out that yourself but there are usally not many entries under the key HKEY_USERS so it shouldn't become too hard to find the correct one.Page last updated 06/07/2002 by tcbw@tcbw.net
