What is Total Annihilation?

Total Annihilation (usually just refered as TA in the community) is a Real Time Strategy game created in 1997 by a company named Cavedog Entertainment (CD). Although the game is not official supported anymore since CD died in early summer of 2000 there is still an amazing community of hard core TA players active.
Real Time Strategic Carnage provides the best description of TA I found so far on the Internet. I suggest you check this site in case you are looking for a more detailed discussion of TA's modability, its graphics and the resource system used.

The purpose of the following documents and links is not to present another eye candy TA site (I leave this to people who have the design skills needed for that) but to provide some essential information and downloads you need if you want to play TA on the Internet. Most of the online TA players require this standard and you will have a hard time getting a game going online without it.

Important note for Mac users
This site deals only with the TA version made for Personal Computers (PC). For people interested in playing TA online on a Mac there is a game service named Gameranger where you can play TA with other Mac users. It will have no use to check PC related gaming services since online TA on the Mac and the PC are incompatible.

2007-03-20	-	Today Peter 'Mavo222' Chetwynd founder and leader of the 222 clan passed away after fighting a long battle against cancer. Edel sei der Mensch, hilfreich und gut. All that he was. And it came bundled with a good sense of humor. A personality quite rare among the people one usually encounters online. I shall not forget him.
2002-08-15	-	The TA Demo Recoder 0.99b2 has been released by the The Swedish Yankspankers. All major bugs reported for the initial released version 0.99b should be fixed.
2002-08-05	-	The Swedish Yankspankers have a new version of their TA Recorder ready. It seems to include the 3D replayer already so stop drooling and head over to their website.
2002-05-20	-	It's official now: Screamer, one of the admins of the TA Universe site resigned from his duty. He was well respected by the people who made TAU their home. Screamer spent quite some amount of his time to keep the TAU boards up and running. I wish Screamer the best of luck for his future an maybe he will even play a game of TA every now and then, you never know...
